The Lavender Poultice Massage
8 October 2021
Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa in Newmarket, Suffolk, was originally built as a Georgian hunting lodge, and is located adjacent to some of the most famous paddocks and stables in the world.
Set in beautifully landscaped gardens, the spa is the hotel’s crowning glory, housing 10 treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, a rooftop hot tub, thermal area with steam room, sauna and hammam, ice fountain, mud Rasul, dry flotation and relaxation areas. There is also an enticing range of rejuvenating spa treatments including the Lavender Poultice Massage which is the spa’s signature treatment.
The Lavender Poultice Massage (120 minutes, £192) is a calming and relaxing treatment for the mind and body, using exfoliation and warm herbal poultices to maximum effect.
The poultices provide heat to the muscles and joints whilst increasing circulation. Combined with a purifying and rebalancing massage and a scalp massage, this leads to a wonderful sense of wellbeing. To complete the experience, a warm and soothing compress infused with lavender is applied. Guests can take the poultice home with them after their treatment and add it to their bath for a natural relaxant.
You can also make a lavender poultice at home by following the hotel’s step-by-step guide here.
