PoB Hotels’ Guide to a Springtime staycation for all the family
5 April 2023
With the arrival of the Easter holidays, we know parents are looking for ways to spend quality time together as a family, to keep the kids entertained and spend the warmer Spring days outdoors.
There really is nothing better than taking the time to unwind with your loved ones and treating the family to a fun-filled Easter break whilst enjoying some springtime indulgence. Whether you’re looking for energetic outdoors activities, brisk walks and cosy evenings, or scampering round the city for a long weekend, the UK is set to be bursting with activities for the whole family this Easter break.
For those spending April in the capital, the Peter Rabbit Easter Adventure will be taking over Covent Garden, promising an interactive and immersive experience allowing children and adults alike to wander through the world of Beatrix Potter, meeting some of their favourite characters. Until 16th April, families can follow clues through Covent Garden, be transported to the London of old, and take a ride in Mr McGregor’s tractor.
When it comes to the traditional Easter egg hunt, the famous gardens do it best, and hunters are spoilt for choice this year with Blenheim Palace’s Easter Eggstravaganza, Giant Eggs at RHU Garden Bridgwater, and National Trust’s nationwide easter egg trail. PoB Hotels are lucky to be positioned nearby, so whether you’re at Blenheim Palace, with Relais Henley less than an hour’s drive away, or in Bridgwater, just 40 minutes from Northcote, pairing an egg hunt with a hotel stay is one of the best ways to make the most of the Easter weekend.
For an Easter a little less traditional, there are plenty of fun-filled festivals taking place. In particular Newcastle will be hosting its puppetry festival between 8th and 16th April, which is not only a fun visual and sensory experience for kids, but an educational celebration of this artform for the whole family. This fascinating festival only takes place once every two years, so don’t miss out, and if you’re not a local why not make the most of a trip to beautiful Newcastle upon Tyne with a visit to Seaham Beach? Home to hotel & spa Seaham Hall, it’s the perfect spot for a brisk spring walk followed by an indulgent overnight stay.
The turn of the seasons would not be complete without a celebration of nature and all the wildlife ‘Springing’ into action throughout April and May: spring is undoubtedly the best time of year to take in our natural surroundings. With this in mind, Pensthorpe in Norfolk is taking a different approach to the classic egg hunt this year, introducing their giant nest hunt, where little nature lovers are encouraged to match up species to their nest in a quest to reach the giant egg at the end. In London, Superworm is taking over Kew Gardens, with a trail based on Julia Donaldson’s much loved story, complete with garden creatures from the book and colourful spring plants bursting into life along the trail.
With so many interactive experiences taking place across the UK throughout the Easter holidays, there’s no need to hop on a plane, plan a few days away closer to home and leave the hopping to the Easter bunny…
