A few initiatives you'll see in action at the hotel include the use of pencils made from recycled CD cases in meeting rooms and bedrooms, offering guests the option to re-use rather than replace towels and bed linen, installing four EV charging points in the car park, providing promotional material as PDFs, using LED light bulbs in bedrooms, and corresponding with colleagues, guests and suppliers electronically where possible.

They support the Northumbrian Living Water Campaign and their bottled water is supplied by Belu, which invests in the international water charity, WaterAid.

Seaham Hall encourages guests to enjoy their 37 acres of land with bicycles and maps for them to use. Guests are also encouraged to travel by train by promoting the fact they're located only 20 minutes from the City of Durham and just under three hours from London

Food Miles is a vital concept for Seaham Hall, so they always buy from local and sustainable sources wherever possible. They also forage seasonal ingredients from their grounds including wild garlic, sorrel, pine, sea buck and gorse flowers. Their waste management initiatives aim to completely offset their carbon emission by segregation of waste.

They contribute to their community by employing candidates from the local area. By supporting the annual awareness event, Global Wellness Day, they're promoting the importance of healthy living to colleagues, members and guests.

They have a good working relationship with local colleges, and actively support local companies including Seaham Waves, Lickety Split, North East Karting, Beamish Museum, Crook Hall and Gardens, and Durham Cathedral.

They're involved with several local organisations including Destination Seaham in partnership with Durham County Council, Sunderland Business Group, Durham Business Group, North East Chamber of Commerce, Visit County Durham, George Elmy Life Boat Museum, and St Mary the Virgin Church, Seaham.
